Field Display
General Description
Displays sets of additional custom fields as records in a grid layout. A summary value for example a sum or a count can be displayed.
Field Options

- Track Changes: Keeps track of changes made to this field.
Special Options for Field
- Grid Contracted – Display the grid in a contracted format.
- Aggregated Function – Display a single summary value from the grid.
- Services: When services are enabled, the caption of the field will acquire a dotted underline. The services can be accessed by hovering your mouse over the field caption.
- Enable Map Service: Enables the map icon
that will launch the user’s selected map service (configured in Personal Settings) and display a map of the content of the field. - Enable People Search Service: Enables the people search icon
that will launch a variety of search services and display the contact details from those services. - Enable Organization Search Service: Enables the organization search icon
that will launch a variety of search services and display the organization's details from those services.
- Enable Map Service: Enables the map icon
- Value Storage: Enables linking two different custom fields to the same user data. See Value Stores To page.
Field Formatting Options
- Width: Determines the width of the field
- Height: Determines the height of the field
- Number Format: Allows you to define how numbers entered in this field will be displayed. See here for details.
- Style: Bold, Underline, Italic, Highlight
- Tool Tip: Enter help text to be shown on mouse-over
- Read Only: Checkbox
- HTML Tag: Additional attributes to the field HTML tag
- Visibility Condition: Conditions upon which the field is visible
- Role - Field Permissions: These settings allow you to control by Role who is allowed to view and/or modify the field.
- Status - Field Permissions: These settings allow you to control by the Status of the record whether or not the field can be viewed and/or modified. (Only present within the Universal Tracking Application)
- Type - Field Permissions: These settings allow you to control by the template of the record whether or not the field can be viewed and/or modified. (Only present within the Universal Tracking Application)
Notes
The following syntax is used to display an aggregate function:
- Count(*) – counts the rows in the grid.
- Sum(fieldname) – sums a numeric field.
- Avg(fieldname) – averages a numeric field.
Only one aggregate function can be used. The aggregate function result will be displayed when the field is collapsed. This value can be reported on, but you cannot currently create a report based on the individual records.
The SmartSimple reporting engine cannot report on this field type, but the values can be displayed in a web page view field.
