System Administration

Course Overview

The SmartSimple System Administration course provides you with a basic knowledge on implementing the SmartSimple database and using its management tools. Throughout the course you will practice what you’re learning in multiple scenarios and lab exercises. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

SmartSimple certification and product knowledge training gives participants the foundation knowledge they need to configure, support, and maintain the product in a live environment. While the prior experience required varies from course to course, this type of training is geared towards participants interested in a product introduction, including its capabilities and functionality, along with guidance from a certified instructor as they learn new skills.

This course is specifically geared towards participants with some experience in databases, business applications, or network systems; although not necessarily experienced using SmartSimple products, and participants seeking a SmartSimple Administrator Certification.

This course is a foundation course for all other courses offered by SmartSimple training.

Universal Tracking Application (UTA)

Course Overview

The Universal Tracking Application workshop provides you with the configuration knowledge required to create tracking applications within the SmartSimple database. The Universal Tracking Application, generally referred to as the “UTA”, provides a powerful information gathering and tracking tool available within SmartSimple. This application can be used in a wide variety of ways within your organization. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Configure and use UTA applications.
  • Manage and troubleshoot the UTA.
  • Administer application security.
  • Implement UTA signup pages.
  • Implement UTA Exchange Feature

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course.

The course is specifically geared towards system administrators, business systems analysts, and similar technical staff wishing to create new applications within the SmartSimple database.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

The SmartSimple Applicant Tracking course provides you with the knowledge required to configure this application to meet specific organizational needs. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Configure and manage applicant profiles and folders.
  • Define applicant registration web pages and applicant career sites.
  • Create job requisition templates and Internet accessible job listings.
  • Install and configure the SmartResume MS-Word Plug-in.
  • Troubleshoot the application.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, knowledge of recruiting gained through practical experience is required.

Audience

The course is specifically geared towards recruiting support technical staff, business systems analysts, and other technical staff wishing to deploy the SmartSimple Applicant Tracking application within their organisations.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Project/Job Costing course provides you with the knowledge required to configure and manage this application to meet specific organizational needs. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Define the job costing/project Management concepts underpinning the application.
  • Create and manage project resources.
  • Construct estimates and budgets.
  • Manage live projects and update project information.
  • Integrate the Time Tracking application with the job costing application.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, a good knowledge of project and/or job costing gained through practical experience is required.

Audience

The course is specifically geared towards Project Managers, business systems analysts, and other technical staff wishing to deploy the SmartSimple Project/Job Costing application within their organisations.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Email broadcast course provides you with the knowledge required to configure and manage this application to meet specific organizational needs. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Construct email broadcast message bodies in plain text and basic HTML.
  • Use the Email tracking functions.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, a good knowledge of HTML is helpful to fully utilize this application.

Audience

The course is specifically geared towards Marketing Managers and Business Systems Analysts, and other technical staff wishing to deploy email broadcasting as a market outreach within their organisations.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

Course Details

Number of Days: One half day.

Length of Days: 9:00 – 12:30 or 1:00 to 4:30 as scheduled.

Lecture/Lab: All certification and product knowledge courses include both lectures and hands-on sessions.

Course Outline

  • Create and manage filters to extract contacts from the SmartSimple database.
  • Construct email broadcast message bodies in plain text and basic HTML.
  • Use the Email tracking functions.
  • Create and manage subscribe/unsubscribe functionality for e-bulletins and newsletters.

Web Forms

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Web Forms course provides you with the knowledge required to configure and manage this application to meet specific organizational needs. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Construct a variety of different types of Web Forms for surveys, assessments, quick polls, and event registration.
  • Manage and export form results.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, a good knowledge of HTML is helpful to fully utilize this application.

Audience

The course is specifically geared towards marketing managers, event management managers, business systems analysts, and technical staff wishing to deploy the Web Forms application as an information gathering or registration tool within their organisations.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

The SmartSimple Reports & Dashboard's course provides you with the knowledge required to create and manage reports for any aspect of the SmartSimple database and associated applications. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Construct reports that select, aggregate and export any type of SmartSimple Information.
  • Define chart driven dashboards to provide high level data reporting.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, you will need to have a practical knowledge of database concepts and experience with some other database driven reporting tool such as MS-Access or Crystal reports.

Audience

The course is specifically geared towards database administrators, business systems analysts, and technical staff that need to create custom reports for use within their organisations.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

The SmartSimple Workflows course provides you with the knowledge required to create and manage workflows for all aspects of the SmartSimple database and associated applications. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

Advanced Administration Topics – Workshop

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Advanced Administration Topics course provides a working SmartSimple administrator with additional knowledge to take advantage of the more advanced features of the database and applications. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Create scheduled, automated data uploads from other systems into SmartSimple.
  • Catch up with new SmartSimple features.

This workshop is designed to provide working administrators with an opportunity to review and discuss future usage plans with SmartSimple personnel.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, you will need to have administrated an instance of SmartSimple for at least three months.

Audience

The course is only available to current SmartSimple database administrators who wish to learn in more depth about the database and advanced features.

Course Outline

  • Use the Autoloader feature.
  • Create System Backups.
  • Basic Portal building.
  • Update Standalone copies of SmartSimple.
  • Troubleshoot problems.

Install & Troubleshooting

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Install & Troubleshooting course provides the SmartSimple administrator with a system engineering background, and with the knowledge required to install a copy of the SmartSimple database on a server. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course.

In addition, you will need to have an excellent practical knowledge of Linux, Apache, MySQL and TCP/IP, and experience with some configuring hardware and software in a web server environment.

Audience

The course is specifically geared towards system engineers and technical support staff that need to install and manage copies of SmartSimple.

This course is an elective for participants wishing to certify as SmartSimple administrators.

Course Details

Course Outline

  • Prepare the Server.
  • Install the OS and other components.
  • Configure the SmartSimple Application and Database.
  • Troubleshoot a newly installed copy of SmartSimple.
  • Apply updates to an operational copy.
  • Performance tune the server.

HTML Programming with SmartSimple

Course Overview

The SmartSimple HTML Programming course provides an administrator with HTML skills and with the knowledge to apply rich HTML formatting on all external aspects of the system. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Know which pages can be externally exposed and apply HTML formatting to those pages.
  • Embed the SmartSimple login within your existing website.
  • Create and manage HTML Web Forms and email templates.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, you will need to have a practical knowledge of HTML programming and web page creation. You should be proficient with at least one tool such as Dream Weaver to create web pages.

Audience

SmartSimple Administrators with expertise in web design, or web developers who need to create and manage professionally formatted web pages connected to the SmartSimple database.

Portal Programming with SmartSimple

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Portal Programming course provides an administrator with the knowledge to create custom user portals using the Portal design feature. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, you will need to have an in-depth knowledge of HTML programming and web page creation. You should be proficient with tools such as Dream Weaver to create web pages.

Audience

SmartSimple Administrators with strong expertise in web design or web developers/web programming who need to create and manage alternative interfaces to the SmartSimple database.

Course Details

Number of Days: 1

Length of Days: 9:00 – 4:30.

Lecture/Lab: All certification and product knowledge courses include both lectures and hands-on sessions.

Course Outline

  • Review of basic interface functionality.
  • Create new interfaces with the Portal builder.

Java Script Programming with SmartSimple

Course Overview

The SmartSimple Java Script Programming course provides an administrator with the knowledge to write scripts to enhance the system functionality. Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Create browser scripts.
  • Write form validations.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the SmartSimple System Administration course in order to register for this course. In addition, you will need to have an in-depth knowledge of HTML programming and web page creation.

Audience

SmartSimple Administrators with strong expertise in web design or web developers/web programming who need to create and manage alternative interfaces to the SmartSimple database.

End User training

All SmartSimple courses are designed for a technical audience.

If you require curriculum to meet specific end user needs, current material can be modified by our staff to meet your needs.

There are a number of customization options available for end usertraining:

  • Mixed Application Workbooks - Contain features for more than one product such as Applicant Tracking and Sales Tracking placement agency users.
  • Technical and Non-Technical Workbooks- Contain customer specific modules to create hybrid workbooks that cover internal procedural issues and the associated software features.
  • Special Features Workbooks - Contain limited number of modules for shorter sessions or just in time self-paced needs.

Additional Training Details

Pricing and Location

  • Training is provided at our Toronto training centre, or at client location (provided client can supply computers – one per participant).
  • Participant cost is $395 per training day. Private on-site group training is available for $1,000 per day for up to 10 participants.
  • Payment must be received in advance of attendance and can be made by credit card using the SmartSimple website.

Booking and Confirmation

  • Courses can be booked using the SmartSimple website or over the phone.
  • Confirmations are sent by e-mail or fax.
  • You must attend the entire course to receive a SmartSimple Course Completion Certificate.

Cancellation – Instructor Led Training

The cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Cancellation notice of 3 (three) days is required to cancel a course without penalty.
  • Cancellation notice of less than 3 (three) days will result in 50% of the course cost.
  • Cancellation notice within 24 hours prior to the start of the course or non-attendance is 100% of the course cost.
  • A credit note will be issued for a cancelled paid course.

Cancellation – On-Site Group Training

  • Cancellation notice of 10 (ten) days is required to cancel a private course or classroom rental without penalty.
  • Cancellation of less than 10 (ten) days will result in a 100% of the private training or classroom rental cost.

Substitution Students

  • Substitutions of enrolled students in scheduled classes are permitted prior to the class start on the first day.

SmartSimple Obligations

  • Our choice of instructor for any course is subject to change.
  • Please note that we reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule a course at our sole discretion, however, if any available substitute dates are not suitable to you, you shall receive a full refund.
