How Leads Work

A lead contains some company information and some contact information.
* Normally in [[SmartSimple]], you separate this information into a company and a contact, but to simplify working with basic lead information the lead combines some key company fields, and some key contact fields.
* A lead can consist of nothing more than just a company name.
* When you have qualified the lead and believe there is some business opportunity, you can use the lead conversion wizard to convert the lead into a company and contact.

This process is designed to avoid duplicate companies, and you’ll be warned if the company already exists. If the company exists, you can still assign the contact from the lead as the contact to the company.
