Download Template
Download the latest copy of the SmartDoc template from your copy of SmartSimple.
- Within the Help menu (at the top of the page in Arcadia, or in the left menu for Classic interfacte) select Downloads
- Right click on the File icon and choose Save Target As
- Save the file somewhere on your PC.
Install Template
In order for SmartDoc to automatically load when Word starts, the template must be stored in the Word Startup folder.
You can determine the correct folder by using the following technique:
- Start Microsoft Word.
- Choose the Tools menu >> Options >> File Locations tab
- For MS Office 2007 and above click the "Office" button >> Word Options >> Advanced >> File Locations (near the bottom)
- Check which folder is associated with the Startup entry.
- Paste the SmartDoc template file into the folder identified as the Startup folder.
System Requirements
- SmartDoc requires Microsoft Word 2000 or higher.
- Access to the Internet is required, plus a valid SmartSimple username and password.
Note: If your SmartSimple password has a % in it, MS Word will not accept it and you will not be able to log in.
Macro Security
- The program associated with SmartDoc is stored in the template SmartDoc.dot.
- This template should be stored in the Microsoft Word startup folder.
You will need to ensure that the Macro security is set to "Trust all installed add-ins and templates". This option is set through the Tools Macro Security setting in Microsoft Word.
Setting Security
- SmartDoc stores user information in a file: SETTING.INI, in the Microsoft Office/Office/ folder, on the C: Drive. If this folder is protected, then the system will not work.
- The user must have write access to this folder in order for SmartDoc to operate.
