The specific roles using the translate feature will need also have to be switched on set in the Global Settings- Security - System Feature Permissions - Features - Enable Field Translation.

You activate the "enable translation serviceEnable Translation Service" settings setting for the specific each custom fields field that you may wish to translate.

When users moves their cursor over the caption for any field where Translate is enabled, a the "translateTranslate" icon will be displayed.

Clicking the "translateTranslate" button display the translate screen. You have This window provides the following options:
