The '''Session Timeout''' setting is found on the [[Global Settings]] page, in the [[Login & '''Security Settings]] section''' tab.
This setting is used to control how long a [[User|user]] session can be inactive in their [[Browser|browser]] before they are automatically logged out by the systemredirected to a pop-up Login window.
The session timeout feature will automatically log out any [[User|userimage:Session-Expired-001.png]] if their  During the time that the pop-up Login window is displayed all current information is maintained within the session remains inactive for the defined number of minutes. A [[Timeout Alert]] No information will be displayed 30 seconds before lost if the user logs back into the session expires to alert system. If the user chooses to close their browser rather than log in again then any unsaved data will be lost. During the fact time that they will be logged out the pop-up Login window is displayed the rest of the system. This feature browser window is darkened to ensure no one can be disabled by selecting read the "Disable Session Timeout Alert" option under Login & Security Settings information on the Global Settings pagescreen.

We recommend that you always set this option. A common session timeout is 120 30 minutes, but can range from 30 10 minutes to 480 minutes. 
==NotesPossible reasons for seeing the session expired message== When setting * User has been inactive for more than the '''Session Timeout''' be sure to take specified time and the following into consideration:session has timed out.* The Session timer will be reset when User has been disconnected from the user clicks any link within SmartSimple, or saves any recordinternet mid-session.* Typing values into User has started a form but not clicking "Save" or "Save Draft" will NOT keep new session in a different browser while the initial session is still active.
