SmartSimple uses the <span class="plainlinks">[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-2 SHA-256 ] algorithm, combined with [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_%28cryptography%29|salt][http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptographic_hash_function hashing] hashing</span>, in order to encrypt passwords.
