The Session Timeout setting is found on the Global Settings page, in the Login & Security Settings section.
This setting is used to control how long a user can be inactive in their browser before they are automatically logged out by the system.
The session timeout feature will automatically log out any user if their session remains inactive for the defined number of minutes. A Timeout Alert will be displayed 30 seconds before the session expires to alert the user to the fact that they will be logged out of the system. This feature can be disabled by selecting the "Disable Session Timeout Alert" option under Login & Security Settings on the Global Settings page.
Set the Session Timeout as required.
We recommend that you always set this option. A common session timeout is 120 minutes, but can range from 30 minutes to 480 minutes.
Notes
When setting the Session Timeout be sure to take the following into consideration:
- The Session timer will be reset when the user clicks any link within SmartSimple, or saves any record.
- Typing values into a form but not clicking "Save" or "Save Draft" will NOT keep a session active.
- If a user closes their browser without logging out, their session will not normally end until the session timeout period expires. This behaviour can be changed using the Enable Logout setting.
